I came across this technique and thought it may help us all.
The basic principal is that rather than dismiss or suppress our ‘negative’ emotions – no emotions are actually negative, they are just sending us messages but they can feel unhelpful.
Anyhoo, back to the technique, so lets say I feel lonely, instead of dismissing this feeling I acknowledge it, Yes – I feel lonely. The next part of the technique is to then think of what I can do about it – for example I could ring a friend. So putting it together…
